This episode is a bit of a filler as we (the Pearsons) were preparing to leave for our regular holiday in Blackpool. Ben was on a family trip at the time we usually record but Alicia and Adam got together to record a little something for you.
Alicia reviews Planet of the Dead and we have our usual look at eBay and news.
The Doctor Who Top 20 Podcasts was recorded in our caravan at the Marten Mere Holiday Park while Alicia was in the shower to comedy effect as you will see.
We will be back as usual for Episode 52 with hopefully everybody back on board.

The 20mb Doctor Who Podcast #50

Monday Apr 04, 2011
Our 50th episode begins with Adam, Alicia and Isabella and a look at emails, eBay, news and Aliens of London/World War 3. This includes interruptions from the woman of the house, much to Alicia’s annoyance.
Then we have a guest from down under as Robert Haynes joins Adam for a quick chat about Robert’s excitement at the return of Doctor Who in Australia on April 30th. This excitement is almost guaranteed to be mirrored by every Doctor Who fan.
Ben joins the party to listen to audio messages and he gives us this week’s Doctor Who Podcast Top 20. Then we review Nightmare of Eden.
The Doctor Who Podcast Top 20 is worked out by listing every Doctor Who podcast listed on the Doctor Who Podcast Alliance web site within a seven day period starting and finishing at 6pm every Sunday. These podcasts are then searched on iTunes under Doctor Who Podcasts and currently running feeds are then listed in the order they appear in the iTunes list. After that a new search is undertaken on iTunes under Doctor Who and the podcast list is repeated. An average is then calculated resulting in the charts we read out every week. It is of course just for fun but it also enables us to mention twenty Doctor Who podcasts every week.
The 20mb Doctor Who Podcast is presented by Adam Pearson, Alicia Pearson and Ben Shoveller with Isabella Pearson and our guest this week was Robert Haynes.
Other contributors via audio were Rhys Parton, Graeme Sheridan and Kirby Bartlett-Sloan and poor Kirby bought a new microphone especially. I just hope he can get a refund!

Andrew Cartmel Interview Special In 1987, Cartmel was hired as the script editor for the twenty-fourth season of Doctor Who, having been recommended to the producer John Nathan-Turner by the producer's agent, who had seen some unproduced scripts Cartmel had written. Cartmel worked on the programme for the next two years, overseeing the final three seasons of its original run on BBC One. He brought in several new writers, taking the series in a new creative direction. Although he is not credited with writing any of the serials under his watch himself, he is credited with composing the key monologue delivered by Sylvester McCoy at the end of Survival episode 3 -- the final episode of the original 1963-89 series. The most lasting legacy of this new direction was the so-called "Cartmel Masterplan", a backstory developed with other writers that restored some of the mystery of the Doctor's background and eventually would explain exactly who he was. Unfortunately, although hints were dropped in the last two seasons, the proposed revelations never materialized on screen as the programme was taken off the airwaves in 1989. However, even if Doctor Who had not come to an end in 1989 Cartmel would have left the show anyway, as he had already been head-hunted due to his success there to take over the script editor's role on the BBC's hugely popular medical drama series Casualty. After one season working on Casualty in 1990, Cartmel left the television industry for the rest of the decade. During the 1990s he wrote comic strips for Judge Dredd Megazine and Doctor Who Magazine and three Doctor Who novels for Virgin Publishing in their New Adventures series. This series had used elements of the "masterplan" as part of their overall story arc for the Doctor, particularly the last Seventh Doctor novel Lungbarrow, written by Marc Platt. In 1999 his first original novel, The Wise, was published in Virgin's short-lived series of new science-fiction novels, Virgin Worlds. The same year, he became editor of the science-fiction magazine Starburst, although the appointment was a short one and he left the magazine in 2000. In 2001 he returned to television as the script editor on the second season of Channel 5's fantasy / adventure series Dark Knight, writing what proved to be the series' final episode at the end of the season. He also wrote a stage thriller with Gothic overtones, End of the Night, which was successfully staged by Long Shadow Productions in the summer of 2003. In the 2000s he has also returned to Doctor Who fiction, writing the script Winter for the Adept for Big Finish Productions' range of Doctor Who audio dramas in 2000, a novella, Foreign Devils, for Telos Publishing in 2003, and the BBC Books novel Atom Bomb Blues in 2005. Cartmel had several other books published in 2005. Script Doctor - The Inside Story of Doctor Who 1986-89 is an account of his work on the Doctor Who television series. There was also another Doctor Who non-fiction book, Through Time: An Unofficial and Unauthorised History of Doctor Who. Blurb from http://tardis.wikia.com

We are so sorry that this episode is even longer than all the others. We will try and make them shorter, honest!
This week Alicia is in the throws of full teenageitis so the first half hour is fraught with frustration but we manage to get through the usual features including feedback, eBay, news and of course the Top 20 Doctor Who Podcasts of the week.
We have a special guest listener who was thrown in at the deep end while preparing to leave for work on Monday morning. Kirby Bartlett-Sloan who is a prize winner (Jelly Babies) on the show gave up 15 minutes of his coffee drinking time to have a chat from the American viewpoint.
Then Ben turns up and we listen to Kirby’s audio feedback (contributed before he appeared on Skype) some additional feedback from Robert Haynes. Then we have jolly good chin wag and a few chuckles at the expense of Eric Saward’s The Visitation.
Please note that our interview with Andrew Cartmel will be released as Episode 47 on Thursday and will be substantially shorter than this episode.

News and eBay.
We have the latest instalment of feedback from Tekkaman James and thank you to him because the email sack was empty otherwise.
